The final Annual Meeting for the Climate Component of the Human Dynamics led Environment and Climate Regional Accession Network (ECRAN) project was held on 21 January 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey. As the ECRAN project will conclude in September 2016, this was an important opportunity to define the progress made so far and to outline future priorities with key stakeholders.

In 2015, the majority of the teams work was implemented in the framework of the Paris Climate Conference – COP 21 that was held in December 2015. With a number of regional and national high-level dialogues held to support the development of the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs). With all ECRAN beneficiaries having now prepared their INDCs and indicated their own expectations and priorities from the new climate agreement the meeting discussed the focus for the coming year. Capacity building activities were focused on converging with the EU Climate acquis in all ECRAN beneficiary countries regarding inventory processes in the framework of the EU MMR, EU ETS and Climate Adapt Support Tool.
