Organised a few days before the World Energy Day, the Forum aimed to provide tangible solutions for enhanced regional cooperation on energy and climate action and more active involvement of the private sector in the Euro-Mediterranean energy transition.
The Forum brought together more than 150 high-level government officials from South-Mediterranean countries, representatives of large private companies, European project teams working on renewable energies, as well as international financial institutions and development banks.
The Human Dynamics led CES-MED project was showcased at the Forum, as a successful project, which contributes to boosting the capacities of local authorities, in eight South-Med countries, and helps them to acquire funding for Sustainable energy and climate solutions via the preparation of SEAPs and SECAPs.
Our team of experts were represented by Dr. Naguib Amin (TL) and Dr. Ahmed Sedky (SNKE for Egypt), who delivered a presentation on the project and its objectives and methodology through the side event programme. The intervention of CES-MED experts also focused on discussing the potential expansion of the project in other Governorates than Hurghada and Luxor.
The participants in the forum agreed on the need to promote regional cooperation through the federation of energy-related business associations in the Euro-Mediterranean region in order to encourage private sector initiatives in the energy sector.
