The overall objective of the project was to achieve a high level of consumer protection in the Republic of Croatia, protecting health, safety and economic interests of consumers the specific objectives of the project were to:
• Advance the process of harmonisation of the Community Acquis in the field into national law;
• Strengthen the institutional and administrative capacity to enforce Consumer’s Law and to implement the consumer’s policy laid out in the NCPP including the provision of technical assistance to the Consumer Protection Council to elaborate the strategies;
• Upgrade the professional knowledge and technical competence of civil servants and NGO’s staff dealing with Consumer Protection (CP);
• Develop a national CP Information system shared between the MELE, State Inspectorate and Consumers Associations as well as a CP Observatory to monitor ongoing cases of infringements of CP Law;
• Enhance the awareness of producers and consumers as to their rights and duties under CP legislation
